Viola Campaniça

The campaniça guitar is one of many types of 5 double course steel string guitars used in Portuguese traditional music. The instrument I made and play is a modern design featuring a longer string length and a compensated saddle.

The typical tuning is from low to high - gG, cC, gg, bb, dd. The two lower ones being tuned in octaves. I developed this variation that I call neo-campaniça in order to be able to play it using arpeggio techniques common to the classical guitar.
